We want to help people who are overrun with debt find freedom and hope.
By working with CAP, we provide you with a specially trained debt coach to visit you in your home, and work towards a solution to become debt free. As well as a debt coach, we'll provide a befriender - a comforting presence to support you through the process. We help anyone regardless of their faith, beliefs or background.
How it works
Step 1
Give CAP a call
Call CAP for free on 0800 328 0006 and their friendly New Enquiries team will book in your first appointment with your local Debt Coach.
Step 2
First appointment
Your local Debt Coach will introduce themselves and let you know what to expect from CAP’s free debt help service.
Step 3
Second appointment
Your Debt Coach will collect and send all your paperwork off to head office. Our expert Debt Advisors will create a tailor-made budget for you, and explain your options for getting out of debt. We’ll also contact your priority creditors to let them know we’re working with you.
Step 4
Third appointment
Your Debt Coach will talk you through all the suitable and recommended options to become debt free, based on your individual circumstances. You can choose the one that works best for you.
Step 5
Your route out of debt
You’ll get started on whichever route out of debt you choose, whether that’s repayment or a form of insolvency. We’ll continue to support you however long it takes, even if your financial situation changes.
Step 6
Debt free!
We’ll get ready to celebrate with you as you become debt free!

Become a Befriender
A Befriender is someone who comes alongside clients to be a comforting and supportive presence through the process.
You don’t need to have any specific debt experience or maths skills to do this role, just a heart to love people, and training on how best to support the people you’re befriending is provided by CAP.

Questions
Is CAP just for Christians?
No. CAP will help anyone regardless of their religious beliefs. We monitor our services to ensure that everybody receives the same caring service regardless of race, nationality, religion, age, gender, marital status, sexual orientation, or disability.
Does it cost anything?
No. Our services are completely free. We are able to provide a totally free service because CAP is a charity and receives donations from churches and individuals who want to help people.
