Prayer according to the Bible
There is a clear charge throughout the scriptures that the Church should be a people that are a praying people.
We are called to:
· Be constant in prayer (Romans 12:12)
· Be steadfast in prayer (Colossians 4:2)
· Pray when suffering (James 5:13)
· Pray for one another (James 5:16)
· Pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
· Ask in prayer (Mark 11:24)
· Pray that we may not enter into temptation (Matthew 26:41)
· Pray in the Spirit with all kinds of requests (Ephesians 6:18)
· Keep on praying for the Lord’s people (Ephesians 6:18)
· Ask in prayer (Mark 11:24)
· Pray for your brother or sister that God will give them life (1 John 5:16)
· Pray for those who persecute you (Matthew 5:44)
· Pray for relief from distress (Psalm 4:1)
· Pray for our Fathers name to be hallowed (Luke 11:2)
· Pray for his Kingdom to come and will to be done (Luke 11:2)
· Pray for our daily bread (Luke 11:3)
· Pray for forgiveness (Luke 11:4)
· Pray for help to forgive others (Luke 11:4)
· Pray that we will be delivered from the evil one (Matthew 6:13)
· Ask for good gifts (Luke 11:13)
· Always pray and never give up (Luke 18:1)
· Devote ourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful (Colossians 4:2)
· Confess our sins (1 John:1:9)
· Make petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving for all people (1 Timothy 2:1)
· Pray for kings and all those in authority that we may live peaceful and quiet lives (1 Timothy 2:2)
